Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is SnapTrip?

SnapTrip creates private, ready-to-book journeys across Sri Lanka. We bring together accommodation, private transport, a driver guide and selected experiences in one complete journey, removing the need to plan every hotel, transfer and activity yourself.

SnapTrip offers carefully designed private journeys with sensible routes, comfortable pacing, carefully selected boutique accommodation and worthwhile experiences. You get the ease of an organised trip without joining a large group tour or planning every detail yourself.

Yes. Your journey is private for the travellers included in your booking. You will travel in your own vehicle with a driver guide rather than joining a scheduled group tour. Some experiences, including train journeys, safaris and visits to popular attractions, may take place alongside other travellers.

The exact inclusions and exclusions are shown on every journey page and confirmed with your booking. In general, journeys include vetted boutique-style accommodation, breakfast and dinner, private air-conditioned transport, fuel, road tolls, vehicle insurance, a driver guide, airport transfers, listed activities, entrance fees and applicable government taxes. International flights, visas, travel insurance, lunches, activities not listed as included, tips and personal expenses are excluded.

Journey prices are displayed per person based on two travellers sharing a room. The final price depends on the number of travellers, room arrangements and any accommodation upgrades selected. Your complete booking total will be shown before payment. Solo travellers are welcome, although the per-person price will be higher because accommodation, transport and driver guide costs are not shared. What type of accommodation will we stay in? Our standard journeys use boutique-style accommodation carefully selected to meet SnapTrip's standards for comfort, cleanliness, location and guest experience. Your confirmed hotel details will be included in your pre-departure travel information. Premium five-star accommodation upgrades may also be available for an additional cost. Will we have a private vehicle and driver guide? Yes. You will travel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle suitable for your group size. Your driver guide will manage the road travel, assist with the day-to-day itinerary and share practical local knowledge throughout the journey. How much time will we spend travelling by road? Travel time varies between journeys and from day to day. Some days may involve around two to three hours on the road, while longer travel days may involve five to six hours, including suitable stops. Sri Lanka may appear small on a map, but traffic, towns and winding hill-country roads can make travel between destinations take longer than expected. Each route is planned to keep the overall pace comfortable and worthwhile. Can I customise a SnapTrip journey? SnapTrip journeys follow carefully planned and vetted routes, so the advertised itineraries are not normally redesigned. You may submit a custom enquiry, and we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request where practical. Custom arrangements require separate review and may involve additional charges above the advertised journey price. Can children or travellers with accessibility needs join a journey? Yes. Children and travellers with disabilities or mobility requirements are welcome. Please tell us about any specific needs before booking so we can review the journey and make reasonable efforts to arrange suitable rooms, vehicles and activities. Some locations and experiences may have limited accessibility. How do I book, and how far ahead should I book? Choose your journey and departure date, enter the traveller details and complete the booking through the website. Online bookings are available for one to six travellers. Groups of more than six should contact SnapTrip so suitable accommodation, vehicles and travel arrangements can be reviewed. Bookings must generally be made at least 14 days before the journey begins. Do I pay in full when booking, and is payment secure? You can pay the full journey price when booking or secure your booking with a 30% deposit. The remaining 70% must be paid 30 days before the journey begins. If you book within 30 days of departure, full payment is required at checkout. Payments are handled through a secure online payment provider, and SnapTrip does not receive or store your complete card details. Can I change or cancel my booking? We understand that travel plans can change. Contact us as early as possible, and we will explain the options available based on your booking and departure date. Any applicable cancellation or amendment costs will depend on the arrangements already confirmed. Full details are provided in our Booking Conditions and Cancellation Policy. Do I need to arrange my own visa and travel insurance? Yes. Each traveller is responsible for checking and meeting the passport, visa and entry requirements that apply to them. SnapTrip does not apply for or arrange visas on behalf of travellers. Requirements may vary by nationality and can change, so you should check official Sri Lankan immigration information before booking and again before travelling. Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended. Your policy should be suitable for your journey and cover matters such as medical treatment, cancellation, delays and lost luggage. What happens after I book? You will receive your booking and payment confirmation by email. Before departure, we will send your confirmed hotel details, airport meeting instructions, journey information and local support contacts. Heads up on one thing Q12 (Do I pay in full when booking) says customers can pay a 30% deposit with the remaining 70% due 30 days before departure. The plugin currently only supports full payment — no deposit option, no scheduled second payment. This wasn't in the plugin build scope originally and hasn't been implemented. Two options for launch: Publish the FAQ as-is, and either implement deposit-based booking as a follow-up feature (2-3 days of work: split payment, reminder emails, deposit refund logic), or Edit the answer to just say "full payment is required at booking" and skip building the deposit feature entirely Worth flagging to whoever's coordinating with the client so you don't launch with an FAQ that promises functionality the site doesn't actually deliver.
